I think the underlying issue is job placement and not what a CA should do and what a CMA should. If all CAs and all CMAs have been getting jobs according to their expectations, nobody would ever complain. However, we should keep following in mind: 1. Accountants' jobs are linked with growth in economy. In 2. 3. 4. CAs are globally superior to CMAs due to articleship which is actually the difference between a CA and CMA. Due to same reason, even CAs are globally discriminated based on training in Big4 or elsewhere. A person who has not undertaken articleship would never know the value of this experience. 5. Cost audit is not prestigious work for CAs and more risky, hence Big4 often refuse cost audit or quote such high fee that clients go somewhere else. 6. Cost audit is only relevant in a manufacturing company. Does it mean that CMAs should have nothing to do with financial or service sectors, because they don't need cost audit? 7. ICMAP needs very clear vision and strategy about its future, very strong lobbying to improve legislation, and very hard efforts to compete with ICAP and with its lobby. The first step should be to remove the word "Cost" from their name or replace with something like "Strategic" etc. ICMAP needs fulltime wholeheartedly dedicated visionary president, who may not be necessarily a CMA. Current situation and complaints would not change anything. ICAP needs the same itself because current situation cannot go very long even for ICAP members.
